Join me for a real-time walk around Chiang Mai Thailand in November 2025 as we check out what the city looks like right after Loy Krathong and heading into Thailand’s high season. Is Chiang Mai actually busy this year… or surprisingly quiet? We’ll chat about the crowds (or lack of them), the weather, and a bit of local news.
I also talk about the latest visa changes for 2025, tourist trends, why some areas are packed while others feel empty, and what I’m noticing about travel patterns compared to previous years. We stop by Noot’s famous coffee spot in the Old City, take a peek at a pricey hotel, stroll past tour centers, and see how things are shaping up for December.
If you’re planning a trip to Chiang Mai in 2025, this walk gives you the most honest, on-the-ground look at what’s really happening.

Just got back from Chiang Mai, certainly did not feel busy even in mid December. Cold? 29 degrees C high and 21 degrees C low with humidity.
good🎉
Oh, I've been there this summer too! Sila Cafe and nearby Wat.
Dance with the devil you gonna get burned….. Fact is Thailand was a better experience for foreigners 15-20 years ago… not biased just facts; anyone who denies that is either a gringo or an idiot
Hello Sir, I'm from Indonesia, I like your Chiangmai vlog. I would like to ask about Chiangmai hotel prices and daily life spendings, isn't it very expensive? How about the transportation there for foreigners? Should we download any apps in Thailand?
Thumbs up 👍 Wayne
Just got back from Chiang Mai less then a week mate and same same all over Thailand quit everywhere
We come to CNX this time every year and missed you by one day walking down the same streets.
We have noticed that there are less tourists than normal.
Hi Wayne
A little off topic, but where would you say is the best second hand scooter market ?
Last yearr that city was packed in mid December, I would have been much happier to see it like this. Hotel Siri was so nice, should I book a night? I might have to. Nice little stroll you had, thanks for the update.
Sad to say I’m going to miss my annual January February visit Wayne. Broke my foot last May which kept me off work for 3.5 months. Missed my busy earning season at work. Tough year. But looking forward to the next. Have you ever visited Uttaradit? Not to many vids on that province or city.
Hey Wayne just subscribed with my new channel, was 17 his morning next Saturday calling for 11 down right balmy in Canada but not here
Thanx for nice video 🎉
It's always the minority vs the majority talk online 😊but that guy looks at you can't wait for the high season either
Annodard Hotel has AT LEAST been there since 1988 when I first got to Chiang Mai, Wayne–and it didn't look all that impressive back then, either…;-)
Winter has arrived in Siem Reap, too. It’s noticeably cooler but especially fresher. To my mind it’s the humidity that’s the biggest reason why hot weather can feel uncomfortable. When I was here in September/October it was 80% humidity at 33c or more which was pretty brutal 😂—you sweat buckets and it just sits on you. Now it’s cooler at 28-31 and humidity around 60% there are a LOT more tourists here.
It’s interesting to hear about the visa clamp downs. When I head back to Chiang Mai I think I will apply for the 6 month visa for Thailand. It allows multiple entries and you have 60 days at a time before you have to leave the country. The good thing is the simplicity and flexibility of it.
But definitely avoiding Chiang Mai till burning season is over! 🔥😊
Howdy Wayne – same at the moment in Hua Hin , it’s not busy yet , but enough Falangs for me 🤩 – I watch a guy in Ao Nang do weekly videos , it’s busier there this month – Thanks for the update 😎✌️🙏
Good on ya mate.
Vietnam is still quite easy to live with 3 month tourists visas 25$ each. They don't limit amount of them.
Nice one Wayne! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
I will be there soon..I'm slowly losing the will to live in UK anymore..I got the cash just need the visa. I don't want to come back for a few years at least…
👍
Would visit chang but only for chang as a cold beer. Personally prefer a beach type place or a big city like bangkok. Cant take the east end out of me i guess wayne. Keep walking my son and touching down . 😊
I'll be there in a few weeks to add myself to the seasonal crowds. Sorry about that. Cheers!
From experience I’d say high season is January through to March
Thanks for sharing Wayne. I like Chiangmai when it a bit quiet. I reckon as Christmas approaches it will get hectic.
Best thing for me is the temperature at that time of year. Even got down to 10c during the night which I loved.
Take it easy mate, cheers 🍻
I went there for loy krathong in the country side area only to find the rivers at high tides😂
The burning season…I read that it costs the tourism industry millions, maybe billions of dollars. So wouldn't it be worth it for the governments to provide the farmers all the modern machinery necessary to clear their lands instead of the burning? Or am.i just being dingy batty, again.
Nice one Wayne. I can't speak for International currencies against the baht generally BUT the baht remains stubbornly strong against the Australian dollar (around 21.1) and that coupled with high season hotel prices suggest that Thailand is not such an appealing place to spend a few weeks or so on holiday and certainly Vietnam appears to have picked up its fair share of the lost tourism Thailand previously enjoyed as it appears it is a more affordable and becoming very popular destination. Yes, times are definitely tougher world-wide with people tightening their purse strings so we will see. Over the next few months all will be answered. Cheers buddy. 🤩
Cooler in Thailand, perfect mate!
Excellent walk around Wayne, my fav city in Thailand 🙂 Can't wait to get back.
We noticed within 2 days after Loy Krathon the city was way quieter everywhere
Wayne…Abou Alan Watts: Check, "The dangers that only the spiritually awakened see that others don't". This is 60 years ago. But more important now. Thanks. ( Not sure you have to be "spiritually awakened: to get it.).
