4 of us are going to Thailand again in November, planning on traveling way more this time as it was flooded last time I was there. What has been your favorite place in Thailand so far?
I'm happy to see that you went to a sanctuary to see elephants. Riding them is something that you should not do. I actually saw a video from 2023 where a couple went to Thailand, and they rode an elephant while they were there. The elephant they were riding got mad after the handler hit it, and then it threw it off. The couple was calm before the elephant started running, and they didn't know any words on how to stop it. They were on the elephant for about 30 minutes before it started rampaging. When it returned to the village, it was still angry there, and locals in the village threw bananas and sugarcane to the elephant hoping it would stop, but it kept going. The elephant soon knocked a man off of a motorbike and crushed it. While that all happened, the couple decided to jump 10 feet from the elephant, and they ended up terribly injured. I saw the story on Inside Edition's YouTube channel and website. Never ride elephants if you want to go to Asia.

Square or rectangular moats were a common urban design in ancient Asia. While many cities once featured them, most have faded away, been abandoned, or were eventually filled in. One of the most famous examples people often overlook is in Siem Reap. Angkor was occupied by Ayuthaya u til early age of Bangkok for over 400 years people be sack into north east region in Thailand, educate one were brough to Ayuthaya, before it was ceded to France and became part of a new country, Cambodia.
That site is now completely abandoned and preserved as an ancient ruin.
In Thailand, remaining ancient square moats can still be found at Sukhothai Historical Park, Nakhon Ratchasima ,city, and Roi Et.
Lastly, the square moat in Mandalay, Myanmar, remains perfectly intact and well-preserved. The only worth travel is Sukhothai if you never been but only if you enjoy seeing ruin site its similar age to Chiang Mai but Chiangmai continue to be the city where people still living while Sukhothai is not.
Liked and hyped! I wanted to get a toothbrush and gently clean those elephants on the temple, such a shame it isn't cared for. Loved the elephant sanctuary, what an amazing experience. Funny looking back at your tuk tuk encounter, but thats the same tuk tuk that was previously attacked… elephants never forget 😂
