Best Thailand Winter Yet? Chiang Mai’s Perfect Temps!

This winter in Chiang Mai might just be the best I’ve experienced in my six years of living here. With perfect 24–25°C days, cool evenings, and crisp mornings, the city feels incredible — not the coldest ever, but easily the most pleasant stretch of weather I can remember. In today’s vlog, I take you on a walk through the quieter-than-usual Wadket area, explore hidden markets, local food courts, second-hand shops, and chat about why Chiang Mai feels so chilled right now despite claims online that it’s “rammed.” From needing a jacket on the motorbike at night to discovering new cafes, gyms, and neighborhoods, this video captures what daily life in Chiang Mai is really like during this perfect winter spell. Whether you’re a Thailand expat, a traveler planning a trip, or just curious about Chiang Mai’s winter, this is a real look at the city in its best season yet.

  1. Never seen those drum guys either. They were taking the piss, no doubt. But, that was cool that you tossed them 20 (worth the chuckle).

Yes, that is how I judge the level of tourist. The amount of vans I see out driving around is a sure sign.

During covid I lived in Astra condo on Changklan Rd. When I would go to the elevator I had an awesome view looking North. There was a a water retention pond that was across the way that had a tree lined gravel road running along side of it. The dormant vans would line up and park in the shade spots. There were dozens of them. I felt bad for them because it was like that every day for months. Also from that vantage point you could really get a good view of the hanging smoke. Just awful. At ground level you often don't realize how thick it is. Although one day while walking down Loi Kroh Rd. the smoke was rolling down the street like San Fran fog !

  2. hi wayne great content I just want to know does it have a nice breeze during the days in January and how cold does it get at night around 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.? Nice one bro

  3. You're killing me with this video Wayne 😢 i left Chiang Mai a month ago and still going through withdrawls. The city and it's people are in my blood now. You're one lucky bloke. I know you know that, lol. By the way, I found a fabulous restaurant one block up from the Astra condo in Chang Klahn road. Great authentic menu and THE BEST dumplings I've ever eaten. Made fresh to order. And the pea chips. Yummo! Oh gosh! I want to be there now! How on earth am I going to wait 10 months before I come back???!

  4. Sorry have not been around for awhile Wayne. Down the road in Chiang Rai night time is cold at night but daytime late 20s but it's great we have a big quilt and no fan or aircon and lovely for a walk in the morning or evening. We are heading back down South on Wednesday back to humidity and heath and mass tourism . Keep up the great work.

  5. What we're talking about when we're talking about the weather? Perfect weather allows us to be at our best in whatever way that means for each of us. One more week before I touch down in Chiang Mai. Cheers!

  6. The people I speak to the Vietnamese is the number one place that people are going to,it cheaper then Thailand ,I will try it to see if it’s true, thanks for sharing

  7. I wouldn't recommend the Drone, Wayne. I hired one in CM and took it back after a day and swapped it for an older Nmax, which was much better. The guy at the bike shop reckoned that Drones don't last well.

  8. I was there last week and loved the weather! I rode the Samoeng loop one morning and while I was in the sun it was great, but in the shade it was freezing! I was regretting not having motorbike gloves.

  9. Really glad to see you fatefully staying put in CM over the years despite the floods n bad aqi .
Having to be on exodus each time something happens is certainly not everyone's cup of tea ..
