Chiang Mai Thailand: It’s All Over…..

Songkran is finally over, and Chiang Mai is getting back to normal! Join me as we brave the heat and smoky season for a nostalgic walk down the trendy Nimman Road.

In this vlog, we explore the post-festival vibe and revisit some iconic local spots:

Maya Mall & CAMP: We check out the legendary co-working space where the Chiang Mai digital nomad and dropshipping boom began. See how the original influencer stomping ground has changed since the golden days!

Payod Shan Food: I track down the brand-new, spacious location of my favorite Shan restaurant for a massive, delicious bowl of their famous 50-baht purple peanut soup noodles.

Chang Phueak Thrifting: We explore the best chain of second-hand clothing shops near the north gate to score some epic thrift deals starting at just 10 baht.

Whether you’re an expat, a digital nomad, or planning your Thailand travel itinerary, hit that subscribe button for more authentic Chiang Mai life. Take it easy, man!

  1. I am glad it's over but with the smoke we did not hang out too much. But only saw a handful of Western people in Chiang Rai which I love as it's a strictly Thai and gentle and respectful celebration. But the smoke is so dangerous your eyes sting and after awhile your mouth is dry but today Monday its a little better because of a little rain last night. Thanks Wayne.

  2. For a few days, the streets look nice and clean because of all the water washing them. Oh, I LOVE Payod! It's like the only veg place I go (except the old Pun Pun behind Wat Suandok) Love Shan State food or any "Burmese"! Yeah; my wife and I will go check out the 2nd hand places after eating at Payod too.

  3. Gday Mate – those Songkran numbers seem way off , Bangkok looked busy but that’s normal , Hua Hin same as other years , yep it’s the real start of low season now – All the best , take it easy ✌️👍😎🙏

  4. Thanks for the update Lad. You should consider heading down to Kanchanaburi again for the annual Anzac Day for a couple of days. Would make good content 👍🏼

  5. i agree; this was the quietest Songkran in 3 years. It looked like it was more locals than any farangs — which was kind of nice! I suspect less people, even locals, traveled to Chiangmai due to fuel costs and other geopolitical-financial reasons. Instead they and any out-of-country visitors stayed closer to Bangkok. Pattaya looks maxed out and pretty fun this year.Just my opinion based on what I saw.

  6. Back to normal after a few days of mayhem. Hopefully the skies are clearing soon. Still looks pretty smoggy in the video. So yes not quite time to get back on the road just yet. Cheers Wayne. 🤩

  7. My wife and I arrive May 13. Do you think the smoke will have cleared by then? We were there last year at that same time and I don't remember it being a problem then. I'll buy you a tea if I see you.

  8. I bought a new pair of On shoes in Run2Paradise because the On's I was wearing were trashed, but I later found out about a guy near Loy Kroh who has a shop specializing in cleaning sneakers. Gave the old ones away and was told they cleaned up like new.
