Why Chiang Mai 🇹🇭 ALMOST the best city to live in…Day 15 in search of a home

For the past 2 years my bf and I have been living in Georgia 🇬🇪. But we feel it’s time to move on.

So we went on a trip through Asia (Thailand 🇹🇭, Vietnam 🇻🇳, and Hong Kong 🇭🇰) to find our new home.

Join our journey to help us decide where our future home will be 🏡✨

  1. I'm in Chiang Mai right now and, to me, it's one of the most overrated cities in Asia. What travel influencers conveniently forget to mention is the constant sewage stench that hangs over many neighborhoods 24/7. In some places, it even seeps up through your sink and bathroom drains. Then there are the giant rats that emerge every night to feast on the piles of garbage left on the streets.
The street food is another disappointment. Sure, it's cheap, but much of it is loaded with sodium and MSG, leaving you bloated like a balloon after a few meals.
Yes, you can live here on very little money if you're willing to eat street food twice a day, rent a place in a less desirable neighborhood, and barely use the air conditioning. But is that really living? You'll spend most of the year sweating through your clothes, and for three months you'll also be choking through the burning season, when the air quality can become some of the worst in the world.
Chiang Mai certainly has beautiful temples, great cafés, and a rich culture, but after spending time here, I can't understand why so many people portray it as paradise while glossing over its very real downsides.
