Now Thailand is paralyzed! Historic floods in Chiang Mai, thousands evacuated
Severe flooding ravaged Chiang Mai again, as the water in the Ping River rose to a record 5.3 metres on Saturday and Monday. The city, a popular tourist destination, was submerged by heavy rains as the Ping River overflowed its banks.
A key business district on Chang Khan Road and the Night Bazaar were under one metre of floodwater, and many shops have been forced to close. The State Railway of Thailand announced on Sunday morning that all Lamphun- and Chiang Mai-bound train services will be suspended indefinitely.
