  1. Thank you Chris for the "on the ground" research and info. I just booked my room for a 30 day stay in Chiang Mai. First time to SE Asia. I've counted on your expertise for budgeting and for inspiration to do the solo travels. Keep up the great work! 😊🙌

  2. I'm retiring this fall and want to go live in se asia. Just not sure how to do it. Do you just keep applying for different visas and keep moving around as they near the end date?
Would love to stay somewhere for a while to explore entire country and then move on to another.

  3. You really can’t compare the cost of living in the US vs SEA countries, it’s like comparing a Bentley to a VW Beetle, they both serve the same basic function but the level of comfort, safety and convenience is vastly different..
Wages in Thailand are 80% lower than those in the U.S., so it’s not fair to compare cost of living across the board…for example an English teacher in Connecticut makes $120K a year, and English teacher in Thailand makes $12K a year (or less)
Granted if you are retired it’s a lot cheaper but you give up a lot of creature comforts and the standard of living is much worse, also Thailand is unbearably hot and humid year round especially living inland and it’s chaotic and the roads are insanely dangerous.
It’s mostly broke American men that retire to SEA, the ideal combination is to live in the US AND Thailand, and split your time between the two..
    Like I do. 💪💪👍

  4. I can get that cellular plan down to $30-35. Get a T-Mobile talk and text only plan. That’s $20 a mo TJ. Then add a local SIM wherever you are. That should be about $10 per month. T-Mobile then runs on the local cellular data as WiFi calling/texting.

  5. Jeeez That ice coffee is around $4 in the US. Hopefully not too many are inspired to move because the more of us that move there, the higher the prices become unfortunately.

  6. I really appreciate the price updates. In Thailand and Vietnam I'm still aiming for $1000 usd per month all-inclusive for housing, food, transportation, and entertainment, which should be doable as a minimalist. Thank you for the continued inspiration.

  7. Your sharings in video are very inspiring😍 to watch and your joy of life is catching😛 Indeed. I just transited Bangkok on my way to Australia and now ponder on where wud be good alternatives to corrupted west and want to visit n explore more quiet remote villages and parts in Thailand and south asia and staying for month or so like you do.
I look frwrd to more of your such vids !👍 also Thanks for dropping helpful tips n ideas like Genki for travel insurance!!
Bit On topic of not loosing our sense of humbleness..😊
While it Was funny Watching you a tall western been "driven", well, – cycled is the word i guess 😅 by old skinny man half your size ( and I Trust U rewarded him well 😇🙌🙏 for his burning knees.lol!!!! 🦵💪🫶)
👉i wana share here thought that came to me while watching it –
I think we weaterners looking for modest life elsewhere shud avoid falling into " living like king" mentality Trap I ve seen a lot lately on you tube on bali living –
But instead need raise awareness of deeper respect n gratefulness to these poorer than us hard working souls we come to contact with🙌🤗
I m sure you agree as you do come along as very kind thoughtful sharing person👏🙏

Maybe it be😂😝🤔 good idea to drop occasional note✨️ for ppl looking for better life here to make a point to try to remain humble n extra😊 caring to these serving our way to easier life
whilst we have such Fortune to indulge in it.🤗.
Genuine Kindness only creates more of it in our Own lives🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

  8. Chris I've got to say, following you cheers me up everyday with your effervescent personality and the well thought out approach to giving oneself the gift of joy in the well deserved retirement years. Cheers good sir.

  9. Hey,, I have NEVER been to Chiang Mai and i know it must be much quieter than Bangkok and Pattaya where i have been to BUT if ok to ask…….Is it easy to meet women there??? SO easy for me in Bangkok and Pattaya………Great video From Florida

  10. selling covered call options is like selling insurance. someone buys the call option at a stock price that you determine, if it goes up to that strike, otherwise you pocket the premium that you collected. lots of videos on you tube.

  11. Hi Chris, I’ve been following your channel for a while now, and I just wanted to say thank you. I’m 41, and I married a Filipina about eight years ago. Together, we’ve been saving and investing every penny with the dream of returning to Asia to retire and traveling long-term.

Sadly, two years ago, when my wife was just 36, she was diagnosed with stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease and now needs a transplant. That diagnosis completely shifted our lives, and our travel plans have been put on hold.

Even so, we still watch your videos every couple of days before heading to work. They keep us encouraged and remind us why we keep pushing forward — saving, investing, and hoping that one day we’ll still get back to Asia. Thank you for sharing your journey. It means more than you know.

  12. Your channel was a big motivation for me back in 2023. Not retired yet, but enjoying my digital nomad days as well here in SE Asia as I focus on my FIRE. Looking forward to the next one!

  13. I don't know about Thailand, but here in Malaysia the intercity buses DO NOT HAVE RESTROOMS. You have to tell the bus driver that you have to use a toilet, and he will stop the bus and you can go in the field. Likewise, the intercity trains also do not have restrooms. One of MANY things that will require an attitude adjustment on the part of American expats or retirees. I am an American retired expat, and have been in Malaysia for ten months now. Trust me when I tell you that SE Asia living is not all that it's cracked up to be. Nevertheless, Chris is a value added youtuber.

  14. Do you realize that the Genki Health Insurance you keep promoting for a 60-year-old costs $736 a month, with a 12-month minimum, and has limited coverage in the USA or Canada?

  15. As an Australian I nearly fell of my chair when you said $600 per month for a healthcare plan. I have private health here , top level, and it costs about $110 (US) per month. You Americans have a serious, serious problem with your health industry. It’s like a criminal enterprise.

  16. Always appreciate the monthly expense videos. You may have already done a vlog on this topic, but have you considered doing a vlog on your experience losing money on a scam or being taken advantage of as a foreigner? What happened? How you handled the situation? Just a thought. Safe travels. Mahalo.

  17. Aloha my friend, have been catching up on your videos. Love the new intro . Always enjoy your 30 days cost in Thailand. I have been taking your insights about your investments, travel and where to stay. In about three months I will be kissing my job goodbye and hello South East Asia. Looking forward to new adventures. Mahalo for your inspirational videos.

  18. Another excellent video Chris! I will put Chiang Mai on my list of places to go.. I'm going to watch the new Mission Impossible movie The Final Reckoning at SM Clark mall in Angeles City, Philippines today for about 6 US dollars… Gotta love movie prices in Asia also! Do you watch movies there in Chiang Mai at a theater? Keep going Brother!!! You are a great example on how to live retirement!
