Chiang Mai Thailand: The Walk of Shame Hours

Join me for an early morning walk through Chiang Mai, Thailand, during what some might call the “Walk of Shame” hours! 🚶‍♂️🇹🇭

Last night, we had a crazy, unexpected downpour – a real freak storm for this time of year! 🌧️ I decided to head out and see what Chiang Mai looks like in the quiet aftermath.

We start our journey along the usually bustling Night Bazaar Road, now eerily empty and wet. I even take a peek at a famous hotel that sadly closed its doors recently. 🏨

Next, we venture up the infamous Loi Kroh Road, Chiang Mai’s bar street. I was hoping to catch some late-night partygoers making their way home, and wouldn’t you know it, we ran into a few classic “walk of shamers”! 😂

Finally, we make our way to the iconic Tha Phae Gate to witness the city waking up and the morning coming to life. 🌅

  1. I love the entrepreneur that ya has done. I wish we in the uk could afford to buy such a property. Wayne, you inspire us with your genuine videos and enthusiasm, which makes you believe that it's possible to retire in thailand

  2. That was quite a walk. I would have been in the Mucky D's for the Big Breakfast. I also had breakfast in The Welcome Inn. The first time it was amazing the second time not so much, sadly as I can't get a decent English breakfast in Malaysia.

  3. Hey Mister Wayne l enjoy your content. I am looking to move to Chiang Mai later this year from the US and retiring for good. Can You recommend a Visa agency. Thank you and keep up the good work.

  4. Early morning is the best time of day to get out and about in Thailand, maybe not so much if it's honking it down though! I hope all the employees from the Dusit got work elsewhere!

  5. It's a shame that despite billions of bahts in damage from the previous flood, I have not seen ANY public work being done to prevent future floods in Chiang Mai. Be prepared. You are on your own.

  6. Hi Wayne, when you said you were doing the walk of shame, for a moment I thought you had spent an all-nighter at the Humpty Dumpty hotel again? 😂 Early mornings are the best part of the day! It's sad to see any business close down, hopefully, somehow, the old hotel will find a use again. Thanks for the walk-about. I always enjoy your videos! Watch out for those wires, and take it easy man!

  7. For safeties sake i wish they would employee a couple of guys to repair the foot paths, those inspection pit covers could be ordered or made in a day or 2, yer i know its the same all over Asia, they love the tourist $$$$$ but don't give a "Rats" about people getting hurt.

  8. Loy Kroh was fun, had a great night at the Honey Bar at the top of the street, right across from where you showed the poster of the new construction coming up. Stayed at Sleep Mai? hotel, a nice, modern, clean little spot (small rooms but modern) and its sign was right where you stopped to look at the sign for a facial massage.

  9. Top of the morning WW – looks like some heavy tropical rain – Bugger to see another big hotel closed down – there is a big Dusit D2 in Hua Hin , I presume they are related ?

    Thanks mate ✔️👌👋👍🙏

  10. I find it's always best to try and avoid running bar tabs when travelling, prevents you looking like a ass claiming you owe less then you do all drunk, but also prevents the bar staff from padding your bill with extra drinks. The fresh Lakers hat is looking sharp Wayne! Thanks for sharing the rainy morning walk about.

  11. I think I spotted you at central festival a few days ago, in the afternoon. Wanted to say hi but I was busy with a bowl of noodles. Really happy about the rain, hoping we get more tomorrow.

  12. There is no such thing as a perfect bike, but the Honda CB500X is an excellent all-around package. The V-Strom 650 is a great bike as well, but it only surpasses the CB500X if it's used primarily on highways. The CB500X is surprisingly good in the city too.

  13. Like your stuff geezer and always watch them . Must admit not my type of place up north too much for me. But if visit when coming one day will get you a pint my son and chat as your very honest and I like that Wayne. Keep them coming

  14. I was late to bed and watching TV when the noise (at first a kind of rustle then loud water flow) started. Turned off the TV. Like you, I first checked whether taps were running, then checked/discovered that it was roof gutters overflowing…….. Given the previous state of my garden/lawn – I ain't complaining.

  15. Good opportunity for the owners to sell each room to thais and westerns that way what ever needs fixing to get it back up and running for people to live in 🙏👍🇦🇺like your vids brother keep them coming Matt from Perth western Australia 🇦🇺👍🙏

  16. I booked a hotel at the travelers inn. First time to Thailand and got a 50% discount by booking for a month. Too long. Although it’s ok, I should have moved to another part after 2 weeks. And getting tired of…massage ….massage …massage …every time I go for a walk😂😂😂You must of walked by me this morning as I heard the rain pelting like crazy 👍

  17. Hard to believe chiang mai is in the same country as the likes of pattaya and bangkok. I used to run at 5/6am and they were intresting characters about. Used to do a lap of walking street. Colourful would be an understatement😂

  18. Wayne I know all about monsoon rainfall seeing I live in FNQ. It was so bad here in Cairns that the supermarket shelves were empty. No trucks could get through the flooded Bruce highway which was cut off at Townsville 400+Ks down the road. We're finally back to normal after two weeks of covid like empty shelves. Thanks for doing the early walk in CM. I'm off to Vietnam tomorrow.
