  2. "A world of disparity"….mmmmm. I love the sentiment. I think I understand your point of view, love your insights. But…I know for a fact that we would not be better off living under the ideals of Marks and Engels. I lived an entire life studying this disparity and those ideals of the fathers of Communism. It is what it is. This is life….. As you rightly said…sometimes we are dealt a bad hand. We can always look around us, and find gratitude and appreciation somewhere.
….Even if we find it is the circumstance of someone less fortunate than what we are.
As always, stunning work, Ryan. Keep it up. Love your productions….

  3. thanks for sharing, the thai people i have spoken to say it is very difficult for people over 40 to gain employment in the major area like chon buri bangkok etc if they are not already (in the system so to speak) a lot of these road and agricultural workers although quite smart and intelligent people have had a poor education, and i get the impression that thailand is a little bit ageist, so peoples options are limited, and so the life work cycle keeps turning but higher wages give more luxury and again choices and options but then the offset is everything costs more and so the wheel turns, there is no or very little support as in social welfare etc and alot of thais in rural areas live a subsistance life style of eating what is abundant at that particular season foraging for all manner of protein and carbs, and have lived like this for many generations, never worrying to much about tomorrow, but thai society is changing and along with western style life, and life style choices comes different problems and expectations, i too like to people watch and and sometimes share my thoughts with my thai partner if sitting together, but her thoughts and are often the very opposite of mine applying her thai logic to the same situation as oppose to my western logic, thailand and thai people always amaze me how we sometimes think and do things very differently but are basically the same, thanks again for sharing cheers

  4. The Crusty Loaf has been around for ages. Irish owned I think. That street sees an older non partying
crowd. Hence all the non Thai more farang oriented businesses.
Nice shot of the Super Rich money exchange where I or they forgot to return my passport. Left it in their copy machine. They were closing n I was careless. Turned my hotel room upside down looking for it. Went back the next day and another girl said no passport here. Imagine seeing the copy machine looking ajar and that's when I thanked God. Many times.
I love the old town backstreets. Best covered 3 times more on a bicycle. Cheers!

  5. Just watched your next vlog before this, obnoxious westerners lol, that why i want to retire to get away from the s***, what age group was that from or just in general….i better catch up on recent vlogs im slipping lol

  6. Great video, Ryan, from this well seasoned people watcher. I am 73 now, and I can remember people watching from my childhood to now. When I saw the hostel sign, I saw refrigerator and thought air conditioned.

  7. Your ability to conjure up thought-provoking tales from pedestrian events is wondrous. It's like you see the extraordinary in the ordinary, weaving beauty and conflict into even the simplest situations.

  8. Extremely happy YT algorithm showed me your channel, what you shared at the end of the video were my exact thoughts as you were showing us different people doing their day to day jobs, it actually made me tear up because as a person who enjoys traveling and leaving my home base as much as possible I think of others who may never be able to ever leave their country to explore other parts of the world for many reasons, it almost feels wrong that only some get to experience this and how everything is so unequal, but like you said, sadly that’s just how it’s been and it will continue to be so the least we can do is be kind to others as much as we can because we don’t even realize how blessed we are, and I’m guilty as I often times forget that. I enjoy your content, fuck the dumb idiots who leave ignorant comments, excited to visit this country for the first time in a couple months, bendiciones πŸ’›

  9. Ryan you may want to check out the book "Manwatching" by Desmond Morris. It was a book my father enjoyed back in the seventies and it's basically the first real study of human behavior in modern times. A classic.

  10. Dope video dope perspective.. great content and outlook on life especially with all the various variables in life both locally in the world.. ❀prey for the people of thailand.. I love thailand and thailand love me

  11. Well, that was really freaky watching this..🀯 I sat in the exact chair at that bakery eating a pastie with gravy and people watching πŸ‘€ 2 years ago in Chiangmai πŸ™

  12. Didn't expect such a profoundly beautiful perspective and message when I clicked on this video. You left me with an immense sense of gratitude. Thanks man πŸ™‚ Will have to try and pay it forward!

  13. Nice video. I cannot even remember Chang Mai, I visited there for a week. I remember liking the area, but haven't had a chance to get back there. I remember quite a few places I have visited over the years. I'm almost 70 years old and still want to travel. Brushing the lives of people I will never see again. Your video has made me melancholy. πŸ‘β€οΈπŸ˜‡

  14. Ryan, this is such a great vlog, so peaceful and an honest view of the world around 'us'. How beautiful life is when we can just relax in relatively quiet surrounds and observe people going about their daily lives, wondering what their lives are like. Until recently, I drove Buses in my local city Public Transport system. While always careful when actually driving, my pastime was watching people.

I'm still wondering where this Vlog fits in the timeline with the terrible floods in northern Thailand in the past week. If those floods affected you, I guess that we will see your view, but if not, maybe we just have to assume that you dodged the heavy rain, or were there before the floods πŸ€”

  15. Great video Ryan
I have been a subscriber of yours since you first started your channel , and the reason I have stayed with you for so long is because you are and have always remained the same caring , honest and raw person that you are , I am a lot older than you , and yet you have such a worldly and wise for someone your age .
I think that you and damo and the kids have a life that no money can buy .
And it is because you cherish happiness and enjoying every moment , the good and the bad .
Thanks for showing us all how beautiful life is when you just forget about the material things and just be thankful to have good health and soak up every small thing that is good about the world and dont take life too serious , as tomorrow is never promised .

  16. ryan ur heart is like mine… help where u can… i feel so good when i help someone who we recognise are hard workers and under paid… best feeling… i will.always tell.everyone… do one good deed every day when u can.. as small as helping physically/mentally or financially… a deed a day!!!!

  17. You just happen to find a Cornish pasty, with gravy, no less, at a random little bakery shop, in Thailand, on the opposite side of the world from the UK, without actually searching for it on Google – and yet made no mention of karma? Clearly someone on high thinks you did some small act of kindness for which you deserved an appropriate reward! πŸ™‚

Ofc, they just might sell Cornish pasties on every corner in Chiang Mai, these days, along with pad krapao…. 555!

Enjoy your trip, and thanks for sharing it with us!

  18. Are you not eating Khao Soi?! We go to Chaing Mai just for the Khao Soi. You have managed to establish yourself with a work-life balance. It is not easy but it can be done with focus and luck. All of my working life I looked for jobs that allowed me to travel and NOT sit in a cubical/office or work in the same area year after year. I worked all over the world and enjoyed my work on most days, but never really achieved a work/life balance. I worked primarily for American companies that aren't known for work-life balance. You in my estimation are doing okay at this point. Enjoy Pai
