Heavy rains from Storm Wipha have hit Northern Thailand, sparking widespread concern! In this video, recorded on July 24th, 2025, we bring you a real-time Chiang Mai flood update directly from the city.
After non-stop rain for the past 24 hours, many are wondering about the impact. While areas like Nan province have experienced severe flooding with houses washing away, Chiang Mai city itself appears to be holding up relatively well for now.
We check notoriously flood-prone areas like the Ping River and the road leading into Chang Klan. The river is high, but not at the critical levels seen in previous major floods, and the roads aren’t submerged. Local officials are out monitoring the situation, and sandbags are in place as a precaution.
Is it safe to visit Chiang Mai right now? For the city center, the answer seems to be yes, but caution is advised. While the urban areas are largely dry, mountainous regions and provinces further north are facing significant challenges with landslides and severe flooding. If you’re planning activities in those areas, it’s best to reconsider for now.
Mother Nature is unpredictable, and conditions can change quickly. We’ll keep an eye on the weather and provide further updates if the situation worsens. Stay safe, and remember to always monitor official weather advisories!
Disclaimer: This update is based on observations from July 24th, 2025. The situation in Thailand can evolve rapidly due to weather conditions. Always consult official sources for the latest information and safety guidelines.

Dark karma justice curses 🤬 play with khmer Angkor spirits land
It turned out nothing happened, when do you think it’s coming at all though?
Hi Wayne. For a first time visitor. 50 yr old solo traveller, which area in Chiang Mai is best for me to stay to meet other middle aged travellers in bars etc please mate?
love the rainy season, no tourist and cool days
Hi Wayne, thanks for the report! I plan on coming early October. Do you think Mae Kompong village will be a safe place to go to? Not sure if landslides are of concern in that area.
Great job getting the weather news out there. I appreciate you showing us the state of the Ping River. Send good thoughts to the people of Chiang Mai.
and what about the border war?
Thanks bud. Appreciate the update.
Evacuation, flooding and war. 7/11 war. Run, dont walk. Cambodia is a proxy of China. USS Gerald Ford brings 200 fighter jets to Thailand today. Head to De Nang you mongers
Hope your ok wayne
Sounds is quite good on that internal Mic . Good up-date Wayne. I thank you for keeping up to date.
Thanks for sharing Wayne. The Ping still looks like it pretty full mate and moving fast. It wouldn't take much by the look of it to flood the entire area.
Stay safe mate and keep your eyes open for any change around there
👍😎
Great update as usual, Wayne. I'll be back in November after a long 2 year wait. If i see you at the Bee café, your green tea is on me! And if i run into you at a local pub, beers are on me! Stay safe, buddy!
Thanks a lot for the updates ! You are really doing a good service to all of us. Thank you for sharing; can't wait for your future plans on videos and take care !
That river is moving fast, wow, I would be worried if I lived near its banks. The "war" with Cambodia, all I can say is Thailand is a U.S. military ally and Cambodia has nothing even close to the weapons Thailand has. Let's just hope these two kiss and make up, we don't want war anywhere.
Thanks for the video Wayne. This weather must be seriously affecting the value of real estate near changklan road.
Nice coverage!
Omg what is happening over there,,you good?
Wayne I am so upset that Cambodia attacked Thialand, stay safe ,we are living in trouble times my friend ❤
Nice one Wayne, stay safe buddy 🤩
Not raining much in CM proper.

Good thing you’re not close to the Cambodia boarder.
What's a non flood prone area to stay in Chiang Mai? need to visit in august for work.
We're on on edge….
I saw one of those birds years ago where you were. It had a frog so big in it's mouth that it couldn't swallow it. 55555555555555555 !
Thanks for the update Wayne. Much appreciated 👍🏼😌
This is the only thing that has been hanging in my mind today, and probably will be the next few days. I'd reckon you are of the same mate. As always thanks for this, big time.
Get your Thai soldiers outfit on Wayne.

Wayne is perfectly well. he's michael phelps brother 😊
Just checked the radar, looks like a little spotty rain dropping down from China, then looks like a few good days. Thanks for the update, mate.
Hi Wayne, if you're looking for more content, how about something totally different? Harley Asia Days on November 21, 22, 23, I'll be there and can show you around. Best and stay dry.
Thanks lot, my good sir! Keep us informed!
Tanks for information
Flying in on Sunday, so I appreciate the update and thank Buddha that things don't look too bad. And yep, I've seen the scary flooding videos from Nan. Cheers!
thanks.. it is appreciated
What about the fighting that erupts between Thailand and Cambodia? Is it safe to visit next month? I feel like something huge is about to happen….And the water quality is becoming increasingly polluted after a typhoon.
In Southeast Asia, two typhoons are currently active simultaneously. Typhoons are also expected next week in South East Asia…
Stay up North, Wayne! There's some kind of mini war going on in the South of the country with Cambodia.
Looks like you got your Thai driving licence at the right time, down in Pattaya they are only issuing 1 year renewals for farangs, hopefully won't happen in Chiang Mai.
Maybe just another money grab on farangs,is the 5 year same price as a 1 year?
Don't mention the war!
