Chiang Mai Bar Street in the Daytime — What’s It Like?

Chiang Mai’s Bar Street in Daylight — What’s It Really Like? 🌞
Join me for a full afternoon walk down Loi Kroh Road, Chiang Mai’s famous nightlife and bar street, but this time in broad daylight. From the Night Bazaar setting up for the evening rush to the busy cafés, massage shops, and bar terraces already buzzing with early arrivals, you’ll see a whole different side of Chiang Mai before the neon lights come on.

We’ll explore the main strip, check out bike rentals, street life, hotels, and new spots popping up before high season hits. You can really feel that pre-holiday buzz as tourists start arriving for Loy Krathong and the year-end festivities.

If you love Thailand street vibes, Chiang Mai travel, or nightlife walks, this vlog gives you the real local view before sunset.

  1. Nowhere is perfect but for 8 months of the year it's my favourite place in the world to visit. Oh and Red Lion Bar – Has Thatchers Cider – A little bit of heaven as you watch the world go by.

  2. I rented in chiang mai bike rental tour. The owner is the best! They give you tea and cookies while you read your contract.aaaand they have honda rebel 500. I rented in many places in Chiang mai. That place is the best!!!

  3. Duangtawan Hotel is still best value hotel in Chiang Mai. Good size rooms, good breakfast and walking distance to everything in town. Chiang Mai has been very quiet so massage girls aren't making much money so they will do their best to get you into the shop but if you give a polite no they leave you alone. I live here and the bar I play pool for has a massage shop next door and every time I go there they still try to get me in for a massage. Can't blame them for trying.🤣🤣🤣

  4. I come into city sometimes as stay about 30km outside and stay but the bars are getting really bad at bill padding as most bars dont use printout tabs its handwritten. Be careful or pay as you go, out of 5 bars we went to 3 inflated it, laughed when questioned and corrected it.

  5. The Chiang Mai tour and bike rental shop just gained a customer thanks to your video Wayne. Time for a trip up to Chiang Mai before the burning season. I will be renting a bicycle though, not a scooter. They look like they have some nice ones. When you were looking at the black scooter, I was hoping you would pan over the black road bike right next to it. Also, when they showed you the prices, they started to show you the bicycle prices, but you didn't show them haha. The place has great reviews. Doi Suthep, here I come.

  6. Nice one Wayne, I like stopping at the Honey bar, right at the top, it is owned by a young Dutch guy. Bellhop is the name you were thinking of. Great little walkabout, cheers mate.

  7. The Lai Thai Guesthouse on the corner of the moat you showed has been there decades, i stayed and swam in the pool there 21yr ago. A few years back, a girl was murdered in one of the rooms there.

  8. Stayed at Duangtwan hotel last month for 3 weeks, as part of our scouting mission to retire in December, Loved the night market and surrounding area, but Loi Kroh, was not nice to walk down, constant harrassment from the ladies, day and night, even had one try to grab my arm and pull me in, thats too much… But it is what it is.. just try to avoid it if you are not looking for that kind of entertainment.

  9. Remember thinking 8K Baht per month was cheap for a Honda PCX down in farang central. Back when the Aussie dollar was over 40 Baht. Laughable now. Lucky if I get 20, not enough for an old coconut. As for buying a ADV 160cc I'll say it again, for your needs you won't be disappointed, Wayne.

  10. Thanks for sharing Wayne.
Excellent walk around mate. Gotta love Chiangmai mate
Pops is Excellent mate I hired a honda 500 off him to do the loop. Excellent ride an no drama with just taking a photo copy of my passport either.
Place is guna get hell busy now leading upto the festive season.
    Cheers mate

  11. Very sorry, Wayne. I was going to write just a few words, but….My favorite massage lady worked in that shop on that small road. She was 40 years old, but had the body of a 20 year old. (Girl, that is). She even had some luck with "little bobby". Some guy from Denmark finally rescued her. Also, i use to spy on my girlfriend from that little park. She was actually seeing other men. Thanks for the space.

  12. I love Chiang Mai, stay many times!
January 2026 i go Vientiane, Laos again ,meet Girlfriend and her Family!
Maybe go Thailand too and stay little bit in Nong Kai!
I'm from Germany ,thanks for your nice Videos
