Chiang Mai 2025: Where did Everyone Go?

oin me for a walk around Chiang Mai, Thailand, just four days after the incredible Songkran 2025 festival! You won’t believe the difference.

Just days ago, during Songkran (Thai New Year), these Chiang Mai streets were absolutely packed. People lined every corner, celebrating the famous water festival with so much energy and fun! It was an unforgettable sight here in Northern Thailand.

Fast forward four days (around April 19th, 2025), and the city is almost unrecognizable. We know tourists often leave after Songkran as the low season begins, but I was genuinely shocked by how quiet Chiang Mai is right now.

  1. Haha Songkran is great but I prefer not getting too wet these days.

How do you like Kuala Lumpur and Vietnam? i was also thinking of visitimg Georgetown. I also hear Hainan, China is a good place to visit during the burning season.

  2. yep, same here in Phuket it Slows right Down after Thai New Yr & Wont pick back up until late November, Rain Rain Rain Started mid April Here & Still Rain or Gray Skies….
that Sickness thing bac in 2020 Killed Thailand specially in Pattaya…..sry to say i Dont think Thailand will EVER Be like b4…….

  3. 8 am – 4 pm is the working hours for Thai people. Thai tourists do not walk in the sun like Western tourists because the sun is very hot. Thai people like cool weather. The time to travel for Thai people is 6 pm- 11.59 pm, the time when Thai people are crazy about spending money and traveling or drunk too ^ ^

  4. Used to visit CM quite regularly when i was married to my ex, who one day decided to up and run off with another guy. I haven't been there since 2012.

  5. Big C has tremendous-looking, very comfortable, and well-padded full-face crash helmets for just 1200 baht, with a great visor and ratchet system. I am sure they have no official DOT standard, but they look great, feel comfortable, keep the noise down, and might help some in a non-emergency.

  6. Click 160ABS disc brake front and back–next level safety–put on YSS front and rear and Pirelli Angel tires [silica in the tires for wet stops work shockingly well]

  7. I miss Songkran already, it seems crazy at first but I do miss having buckets of water thrown at me while I'm riding my motorbike in this heat.

fyi, Yamaha MT03 maybe the ultimate street bike in Chiang Mai (perfect size and power at about 42hp) if you are experienced driver otherwise yes they do have smaller MT15.

  8. Hi Wayne just a little note to tell you how much I enjoy your vlogs lv been watching you for few years now, keep up the good work cheers mate ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Wayne I have Honda ADV 160 love it PCX just to Old man style and I'm 62 sure more confortable but I like sporty and have taken off road thus the ADV (adventure) give one a ride

  10. Iโ€™ve been to Chiangmai 1 time and I recognized a few places from your walkabout. I wouldnโ€™t mind living there some day. Love how quiet it is there right now

  11. That was a great walk about. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ It reminded me of your videos around Covid time when you practically had the streets to yourself ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ thank you!
