Having little or no debt, and enough savings to generate a life long income, not having to worry about where your food will come from, and not having to think twice about it…

If most people live your life style,not only the world would be a better place, our children will also be better off, because they don't have to take care of us when we are older also.

I leaned into minimalism after age 50. It prepared me for a cost efficient retirement. I'm not a one backpack guy, but I am a 'one car trunk' guy.
I never needed 95% of what I owned as a young man. Life is so much easier with less stuff. I don't miss any of it.

You have to be a minimalist to live in Chiang Mai, you have to put your pennys away to deal with lung cancer due to the toxic smoke and the appalling pollution levels. Why on earth would any expat would want to live in this place, visited once, never again, couldn't breathe properly for days. Seriously, there are many better places in Thailand than this smog filled hole. You can live at the bare minimum but at your own health.
Another great video. I had my own epiphany about work 18 months ago and decided I could work until 60, make (and spend) more money in the west, or get started living. I hunkered down and realized i have enough for the expat life. Just this decision alone was liberating. Now I have 94 days left until the magic starts, I'm giddy. I'll be 55 and very much alive. Thanks for the motivation, sir.
The real luxuries like air, water and good mood are free and within the reach. Life is short and we just live to the fullest.
Minimalism simply makes life easier. Such win-win for us minimalists.

Another great video, it offers options to people who are retiring with different budgets. Not everyone needs a million dollar portfolio with 10% per annum to retire, maybe $500-600k might suffice if going for a minimalist lifestyle. 😇

Not spending money on real estate and toys means two things to me: I’m not strapped down, which would limit travel and Choices/Options in general. And 2nd, that’s money that I can invest and enjoy the gains.
I have been in Thailand for 2 decades. I also exercise the way of life what they now call Minimalism. Less material wants and desires. When I don't have much of that, I can enjoy everything, instead of complaining or finding fault with things around me.
Unfortunately it's way way to hot and full of starfish
